13 things to do in Amsterdam this September


I don’t know about you guys, but even though technically we’re heading towards Autumn, I’m still trying to make the most of these summer vibes. I’m not looking forward to Autumn and Winter (brr!) but there’s still plenty of things to do in Amsterdam. You’ll mostly find me sipping on some fine wines, jamming out to 80s music and generally having a good time. Heres what’s on this September:

Burgers and Beers – Taste Indulge Sip
Burgers. Beers. What’s not to love? The guys over at Lowlander beer are taking over Cut Throat in conjuncton with to provide you four tasty burgers which have been paired with a corresponding beer. If you’re feeling adventurous you can try out a beertail as well. For more information check out their facebook event page.

Amsterdam Fringe Festival
For the unitiated, Amsterdam’s Fringe Festival is an 11-day festival of theatre and dance by new and undiscovered artists in venues all across Amsterdam and the best part is they have an ‘English no problem program’ so you can enjoy the festival as well if you don’t speak any Dutch.
When: September 7th – 17th

ROEF Amsterdam
Sip cocktails on some of Amsterdam’s best rooftop bars in this fun rooftop festival, where you can hop from one location to another (not literally). Tickets have sold out for this, but the afterparty is at Canvas from 23.00 onwards so be ready to get your groove on.
When: September 8th at 23.00 until late

Entry: €5 if you have a Roef wristband, €10 if you don’t

Het Grote Cider & Mossels Feest
Cider and Mussels are always a winning combination so make sure you hit up Roest for this event. The forecast is for rain, but who cares when you have cider and mussels?
When: September 8th at 15.00 until 03.00

Entry: Free, but make sure you have plenty of money for all the cider and mussels!

Amsterdam Beerfestival 2017
Beer drinkers unite! This three day festival brings you some of the best beers including beer from the Brouwerij ‘t Ij, Oedipus Brewing, and De Bebaarder Brouwer and more.
When: September 8th – 10th

Open Monumentendag
Explore some of Amsterdam’s gems in the open monument day, where many places normally closed to the public open their doors for one weekend. There are special events being put on and with over 61 monuments to choose from in Amsterdam alone, there’s bound to be something in there that catches your eye.  Find out more here.

MOER’s Bubbles and Oysters
Gorgeous oysters for only €1, and prosecco at €5 a glass with some jazzy tunes playing in the background sounds like my kind of Sunday. To make a reservation check out their website.

Transcreen Amsterdam Trans*gender Film Festival
With films, workshops and a party at Mezrab there’s plenty to choose from during this 5-day Festival in Amsterdam. You can check their agenda here.

24H Zuidoost
Experience the very best of Zuidoost in 24 hours – go behind the screens at Pathe, eat your way around the world at World of Food and sip on cocktails while you admire some art. There’s something for everyone in this 24 hour event.

Weirdest Boat Parade
Yes, you read that right. All of the weirdest boats you could ever hope to possibly find will be together on this day. The hot tub boat, clog boats and more will all be gracing the waterways of Amsterdam in this weird boat parade. With a brass band, karaoke and DJ’s this promises to be pretty bizarre. Respect the 80s at Roest
Ah, the 80s – the era of slogan shirts, scrunchies, spandex and shoulder pads! Get on down to the tunes of Run DMC, Michael Jackson, Madonna and more in a party that you won’t forget. For more info head here.

Amsterdam Wine Festival
A wine festival comprising of more than 250 wines from different regions complete with food, and workshops sounds like heaven. Running over three days and suitable for complete wine novices (aka, ‘it smells like wine’) or wine experts, there’s something here for everyone.
